Habitat was back on deck last week for what is sha Habitat was back on deck last week for what is shaping up for a massive 2022. Habitat is keeping it’s original design philosophies simple this year and sticking to it’s beliefs on sub tropical design. Buildings with overhangs!…or thickened facades, screening to West facades. All that Xmas rain just reinforced how important those elements are for a building to function and be comfortable to live in. That’s the aim. Pretty Instagram pictures don’t always make for a functional building in this climate. A big shout out to Ricardo and his team @projects_and_designs_engineers for his Paradise Waters Residence making it through to the National final for the National Excellence in Building Construction Awards in Cairns for renovations up to $1mill. 🙌 Great achievement and we wish him all the best for a National win! For us this was an exercise in a Modernist/Minimalist design and converting that philosophy into something that is liveable in a South East Qld climate. 📸 @kristian_van_der_beek
