Currumbin Beachfront Residence

The second RSL prize home Habitat Studio has been commissioned to Design. Set on the beachfront at Currumbin Beach the site has direct beachfront access with views to the horizon & south east to Coolangatta.
- The design was driven by the location of the site and it’s orientation. The volume has been narrowed down and pushed to the southern side of the site to take advantage of the northern light and opportunity for the North-East cooling breezes in summer. The design has been opened to breathe & give the sense of being nestled into the nearby sand dunes.
- The landscape was a key driver in the design. Creating courtyard spaces and adjacency to landscape as you move through & within the house. Permeable open living spaces that open to the landscape beyond.
- Natural elements & materials have been specified which are low maintenance & reflective of the beachfront location.
